My artwork is a visual translation of human interaction, a tactile record of lived memories, and a physical response to the changing atmosphere of the Northern California landscape. Rather than capturing static imagery, I treat the canvas as a living surface—an open territory where internal emotional currents collide with the external world.

Rooted in my early background in art conservation and preservation in Bucharest, my practice is deeply tied to the physical life of materials. I reject the boundaries of a single medium. Instead, I layer oil paints, fluid acrylics, heavy oil crayons, pastels, and paper to construct a dense, architectural topography. Every piece demands a visceral, multi-medium dialogue.

The execution of my work is unconstrained and highly physical. Using aggressive palette knife strokes, rapid gestural brushwork, and raw lines carved directly into the paint layers, I aim to freeze a precise moment of emotional energy. My palette balances deep, grounding earth tones that echo the landscapes of my childhood with the luminous, shifting light and ocean mist of the Pacific coast.

Ultimately, my paintings are symphonies of resilience and joy. By translating daily conversations, long backpacking journeys, and personal reflections into heavy abstract textures, I invite the viewer to look beyond the surface—to feel the weight of the layers and discover their own poetry within the canvas.
